Causes why your Xbox One is unable to connect to wifi

- Connecting an XBox to a wireless network using the new Dashboard GUI: Go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings. Select Network Settings. Select the name of your wireless network. Note If you do not see your wireless network, select Advanced Options. Then select Specify Unlisted Network and enter your wireless network name.
- Connect the Xbox One Wireless Adapter (sold separately) to Zen's A3 USB port. Wait at least 5 seconds for it to register with Cronus Zen before connecting a controller. Connect any compatible Xbox One Wireless Controller to the A2 USB port using a USB cable. It will vibrate once indicating it has been registered successfully by Zen.
Wifi network is hidden or out-of-range.
By default, a wireless router is designed to broadcast the network name every few seconds to allow other devices to discover it. If your wifi administrator intentionally sets the network to be hidden, this may be the reason why your console is not detecting it. If this is the case, you'll have to manually enter your network details in order to connect.
It's also possible that your Xbox One is simply too far from the router. Try moving it closer to see if it connects to it.
Random console bug.
If left running for an extended period, the console may develop temporary bugs. Such issues usually go away once the console is restarted. In the solutions below, a power cycle is needed to fix any network issue. Make sure that you do this if nothing has helped so far.
Router issue.
Another possible cause why your Xbox One is having trouble seeing your wifi may lie within the router. Be sure to power cycle the router and any other networking equipment you're using if the issue persist.
Unknown console glitch.
Internal console issues like a software glitch or a bad wireless adapter can also happen. While hardware malfunction is rare, it's not totally impossible. Your console can be damaged internally if it's exposed to dust, heat, or moisture.
Troubleshooting an Xbox One console that won't connect to wifi

- Check if your Xbox One console can see other wireless networks.
Can your Xbox One console detect other wifi or wireless networks? If yes, then you'll have to focus your troubleshooting in your own wireless network.
If your console can't see any other wireless networks, it's possible that its wireless adapter may be damaged or not working. It's also possible that it has your Xbox One has a software glitch that causes wireless functionality to go haywire. - Power cycle the console and network equipment.
A complete power cycle may sometimes help in fixing console network troubles. To do that, make sure to unplug the power cable from the back of your modem or router for about 5 minutes.
Afterwards, try restarting the console. To do that, just press and hold the Xbox button in the console for about 10 seconds. Once the console has powered down, press the Xbox button again to turn it back on. Alternatively, you can unplug the power cable from the back and wait for 10 seconds. Afterwards, reconnect the cable and turn on the device.
After 5 minutes, reconnect the power cable to your modem or router and wait until all the lights are stable. Then, on your Xbox One console, try to check again if it's now detecting your wireless network. - Check your wifi network using another device.
If you have a smartphone, use that to see if your own wireless network is working just fine. Try disconnecting and reconnecting to your wifi on your phone. If you can connect just fine and internet is working, then the issue is with the Xbox One console.
On the other hand, if your phone is also having trouble detecting or connecting to the same wifi network, you should troubleshoot your router. Consult your router documentation or contact the maker's technical support team to help you in troubleshooting the device. Once you have fixed your router issue, configure your Xbox One console again.
After you have verified your console is connecting to the correct SSID, test your Xbox Live connection:
On the controller, press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select System.
Select Settings.
Select General.
Select Network settings.
Select Test network connection. - Get help from Microsoft.
If your console is still not connecting to wifi or wireless network, you can assume that there's a deeper problem behind it. Unfortunately, there's nothing much that you can do at this point as the rest of the diagnostics has to be performed by a qualified Microsoft technician. What you can do now is to contact Microsoft so you can set up an appointment for repair.

Workaround: Use wired connection
If you don't want to send in the console yet, you can try connecting via a wired setup. Get a good ethernet cable and connect your Xbox One directly to your router with it.

Most hotels have some sort of web-based authentication in order to use their wireless networks. Some devices (Xboxes) are unable to handle those. The systems behind these wireless networks are based on device MAC addresses, which are basically unique identifiers of your hardware. Once you've authenticated with an identifier, it is 'trusted' for a set period of time (typically 24 hours). It is possible to lie about your identifier, which is what we'll be doing here. There are a number of articles on doing this with your Xbox 360, but nary a one for the One. Microsoft has made it a little bit easier this time around, but only slightly.
Previously, you had to spoof your MAC address (of your Xbox) on another device (I used LinkLiar on my Mac and most seem to use Mac Makeup on Windows), connect to the wireless, accept the agreement/enter your code, disconnect, set your MAC address back on your device, and then connect with your Xbox. You can still do that if you'd like, but there is another way assuming you have a device that you can connect to the wireless, can get the MAC address from, and does not need connected to the wireless in the future (think: your smartphone).
- Connect your device to the hotel's wireless network
- Fill out the agreement and/or code that pops up
- Find the MAC address of the device you connected (Android | iOS)
- Disconnect your device from the hotel's wireless
- Connect your Xbox One to the wireless (you will be told there's one of a number of problems with your connection, which can vary depending on the system the hotel is using)
- Do not attempt any of the recommended steps and instead choose to edit your connection
- Go into the wireless connection's advanced settings
- Scroll down to and select 'Alternate MAC address'
- Put your other device's MAC address in there (Note: Use dashes in place of colons)
Voila! Your Xbox One is now doing the spoofing of its own address. This was much easier for me than the old method of spoofing my Xbox's MAC address on another device, connecting, unspoofing my other device, etc., etc.
I'm assuming all of the above can also be done with a wired connection too, but I've not had an opportunity to try it.
How To Authenticate Wifi On Xbox One
I'm still not sure why Microsoft can't handle these types of network authentications now that they've included a full-blown version of Internet Explorer, but it is possible they just haven't gotten to it considering how rushed they were to get the One out the door (let's face it, we're currently using a beta). We can only hope that they'll include it in a future update.
